About Forbes & Sons Printers
Robert S. Forbes purchased The Aurelia Sentinel, the local newspaper, and the included
commercial printing business, in 1951. Since then, the Forbes family has been dedicated to
producing high quality printed material at competitive prices.
The printing business has been in continual change over the past 60-plus years, from the
Linotype and hot lead letterpress through the beginnings of electronic input, then computerization
of everything, and now complete digitization of the entire process, and we’ve seen
it all.
We’d like to use our experience and skills to help you make your next printed piece flow
smoothly and economically. Give us a call, drop a note, or stop in.You’ll get our undivided
attention!

Bob Forbes
Bob Forbes has been involved in the printing industry since junior high school, starting as
printer’s devil (apprentice) in the newspaper (The Aurelia Sentinel) and commercial print
shop operated by his parents. Having graduated from sweeping and washing presses to
stereotyping (casting images in metal for printing), running Linotype and hand-fed presses,
he graduated from Buena Vista College, was drafted and spent two years in US Army print
shops. Bob then returned to the family business, learned sheet-fed offset printing, phototypesetting,
stripping (attaching film to base material for platemaking); and more recently,
the digital process that graphic arts have become.
Bob does graphic design and layout, keeps the computers and presses operating, and supervises
operations. |
